Literature Text

This is a song for the lonely,
Only sing it if you're blue.
If you think you're no one,
Then this is the song for you.

If you have been left hanging
Like a portrait in some nursing home,
And if you smell a little stale,
Then you can join me, alone.

I don't care if you don't smile
Or if you don't reply.
We both know it's not the time
To read between the lines
Of this song for no one,
Particularly for you.

This is a song for the lonely,
Only sing it if you're blue.
If you think you're no one,
Then this is the song for you.

If you want to run around,
Screaming at the top of your lungs,
And pull out what's left of your hair,
Then meet me on the ladder's bottom rung.

If you have someone you love,
Who never seems to pick up the phone
And is always washing her hair,
Then you can join me, alone.

I don't care if you don't smile
Or if you don't reply.
We both know it's not the time
To read between the lines
Of this song for no one,
Particularly for you.

This is a song for the lonely,
Only sing it if you're blue.
If you think you're no one,
Then this is the song for you.

Someone is always laughing,
And someone is always proud,
And someone is always fashionably late,
And though you never say it aloud,
You wish it could be you.

Someone is always smoking,
And someone is always drunk,
And someone is always stuck in their suit,
And though you never say it up front,
You wish it wasn't you.

This is a song for the lonely,
Only sing it if you're blue.
If you think you're no one,
Then this is the song for you.

If you have nothing to hide,
And have got nothing that isn't shown,
And no one wants to share a smile,
Then you can join me, alone.

I don't care if you don't smile
Or if you don't reply.
We both know it's not the time
To read between the lines
Of this song for no one,
Particularly for you.

This is a song for the lonely,
Only sing it if you're blue.
If you think you're no one,
Then this is the song for you.

If you don't know where to turn,
On a street with a one way sign,
And hide your fears in an alley,
Because it's the safest place you find.

And if you have no money,
And they won't let you take out a loan,
Cos it will just be spent on beer,
Then you can join me, alone.

I don't care if you don't smile
Or if you don't reply.
We both know it's not the time
To read between the lines
Of this song for no one,
Particularly for you.

I can really imagine Paul Heaton singing this. Now I just need him to write the music then it would be perfect :p
I like some of the imagery i get in this, though it could be better, but it's a step in the right direction I hope.
