Literature Text

I know 'I love you' in twenty languages,
'Let's go to bed' in only one.
By the time I've got my phrasebook,
The chance is usually gone.

And we always feel ourselves quite prepared,
But quite prepared for what?
We always lose the script,
Before we actually lose the plot.

Roll on, alone.
Roll on,
Lonely.
Roll on.
Roll on, alone.

The ice cream tubs are empty,
The pillows are my hugs.
I see in them what they see in me,
Just another one of the lonely mugs.

I don't want to be left that this way,
I want to go back home.
Please don't pull down the blinds,
Don't let me be so alone.

Roll on, alone.
Roll on,
Lonely.
Roll on.
Roll on, alone.

Count my friends on my fingers,
Acquaintances on the wall.
Do they see the assylum hints,
Or wonder what they're for?

I don't mean to be this way,
It just happened that I am.
No one asked me to elaborate,
Do they even know I can?

Roll on, alone.
Roll on,
Lonely.
Roll on.
Roll on, alone.

I only drink when bored,
So I do twelve pints a day,
And I've lost the difference,
Between bored and lonely anyway.
Elements about myself in here, though lets hope I don\'t quite reach these depths, but ah well :)
